iBailout!! is a loving spoonful of new-school action arcade goodness, painstakingly crafted over the course of most of 2009 with a team of three full-time members (Design & Production, Art, and Programming) and one part-time member (Sound Design & Music) working on it together over the course of four-months+.

iBailout!! is a new-school arcade experience, because of the countless iterations undertaken to get everything just right (76 builds to be exact–if I recall correctly), the fine and proper balance between accessibility and challenge and the depth of play and structured longevity of the experience that most arcade games of the past just aren’t concerned about, and the envelope pushing theme of the Federal Reserve and the exploration of political current events in game form. I designed and conceived iBailout!!, so it’s obviously easy for me to think this way, but, really, how many games are out there that have a serious and meaningful political satire as their foundation? Truly, it’s very few that have a serious and meaningful anything (not that fun for the sake of fun isn’t perfectly legitimate on its own, though).

Too much thanks.

Why iLikeCereal!! Loves You and Why It’s the Best Productivity Killer App Ever

best app ever 2009

Nominate
iLikeCereal!!
for
Best Productivity Killer

iLikeCereal!! loves you.  It gives you the greatest bear hug, nay, wookie hug, of victorious friendliness (the kind of crushingly soulful wookie hug that can only be administered after taking out an Endorian shield generator or after locking yourself in a bathroom with a gallon of milk and empty bowl and spoon and crushing a whole box of Count Chocula in one shameful sitting) that no other productivity killin’ app in the whole frickin’ universe can dare compete with it.  By this virtue alone, iLikeCereal!!, is the greatest productivity killing app of our time, our generation, EVER.

But it’s not just the beyond epic wookie hugs of victorious friendliness that make iLikeCereal!! the best productivity killing app ever.  No, it’s also the fact that it is the best productivity killing app EVER, that, in fact, makes iLikeCereal!!, the best productivity killing app EVER.

Have you ever danced with a bowl of cereal in the pale moonlight?  I haven’t either and you should thank God and your lucky charms that you’ve never been subjected to such a ridiculous scene.

EXTRA!! EXTRA!! Zany iLikeCereal!! Press Release Scheme Works!! Many Pairs of Pants Charmed Right Off!! …sort of

Sugar Cereal Brotherhood of the Charmed Pants

So, maybe you saw our epic press release?

Yes, we admit, it was nothing more than a cheap attempt to get some, maybe not yet deserved, but certainly much-needed attention to our recently launched iLikeCereal!! (you’d be surprised how lonely it can get on the App Store).

Also, we were definitely hoping it would help get iBailout!!’s name out there too–which, in the awesome iBailout!!’s case, at least, is not only much-needed, but also definitely completely deserved.  And, by the way, iBailout!! (along with 171 other surely fine contenders) happens to currently be undergoing the first round of judging in the 2010 IGF Mobile.

So, how did that zany press release scheme of ours work out, then?   Well, in terms of press coverage and general attention, I’d say it did exactly what we designed it to do and was wildly successful, getting us unique stories (and even, our very first real review–a pretty darn nice one at that; which is really, really awesome and exciting) on almost a dozen different sites.  Also, our YouTube view counts on the iLikeCereal!! and iBailout!! trailers quintupled from around 120 to 500+ views and tripled from around 60 to 200+ views, respectively, in the past ten days or so since we issued the press release.

And, of course, we’re very thankful to all the different outlets, writers, and editors that picked us up and covered the story: MobileCrunch, Pocket Gamer, Girl Gamers UK, GirlGamer, BeefJack, Blue’s News, Gaming Nexus, Gamer Syndrome, DCEmu Blog, Pocket-lint, and (my personal favorite write-up) Just Another iPhone Blog.  Also, we’re just as thankful to everyone who tweeted, e-mailed, posted, talked, or perhaps even wrote a genuine real-life letter (news may be arriving as we speak!) about the story too.  If we’ve left any media outlets or stories out, or anyone else that helped spread the word, please do leave a note in the comments as we’d like to check it out and offer our thanks.

iLikeCereal!! HOBBLES ONTO iPHONE APP STORE

Fun Entertainment App Sells Not-so-Epic 26 Copies

Suburban-Detroit by way of Zagreb, Mich. – December 8th, 2009 – Marroni Electronic Entertainment (MEE) and NightIrion today announced the less-than-epic sales figures for the first three days of just released iPhone and iTouch entertainment app, iLikeCereal!!.

We sold 26 copies,” said Nick Marroni, Owner, Designer & Producer, MEE. “We weren’t necessarily expecting instant great success, but damn,” he continued, before going on to explain that at least half of that meager 26 sales must have been family and friends (whom also account for iLikeCereal!!’s current five star rating, of course).

iLikeCereal!!, a milk and cereal physics sim, unashamedly born out of fellow iPhone app Koi Pond’s success, but yet still lovingly crafted and uniqueified and innovateded by its creators (it’s got sweet music, too), just didn’t quite take the App Store charts by storm.
